The World Football League held a Pro Draft at the Marriot-Essex House in New York City on March 18, 1974. Professional players were drafted from the National Football League and the Canadian Football League in a 40 round draft.
The New York Stars with the final pick, in the first round selected quarterback, Joe Namath, of the New York Jets. Nine of the Stars pro draft selections either played with the team in 1974 or signed a "future" WFL contract with New York.
